Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Footwear Friends Annual Awards. Held at St Mary at Hill Church in Eastcheap, City of London, on 22 October 2016, the awards recognise developing British shoe design talent who are the lifeblood of the industry.

Caroline alongside Georgina Goodman, Malcolm Collins and Rachael Hill were the dragon’s den style panel of industry experts who assessed each candidate’s ability to develop their footwear related business idea. The winners were then announced, on the night, by Eric Musgrave the former editor of Drapers.

This year’s winners were….

  • Richard Swift of Swift & Co. – The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Award for Innovation
  • Jane Rafter of Slinks – Micro-Pak Ltd Awards
  • Jalil Rahman of Augustus Pili – The Joe Meltzer Travel Award
  • Richard Swift – The BFA Award

Footwear Friends formerly the Footwear Benevolent Society, is a charity which provides financial assistance to people who have worked in the Shoe Trade but have fallen on hard times. Established in 1836, they are the only charity dedicated solely to the support of those have served the footwear industry, whether in design, manufacture, distribution, retail or repair.
