Conduit. Inspiration came from a Victorian half circular photo album.
The shape lent itself to a clutch. I was fascinated by the leatherwork decoration and working with bookbinders each leaf and berry was individually cut and placed on the cover and then pressed with a brass embossing plate made especially. Several leaves were made to replicate the album, for the client’s own photos. The remaining leaves hide the interior cavity for mobile phone, lippy etc..The outside edge of leaves was gilded. Highly specialist technique further complicated here by need to do it on the curve. Interior leaves printed as original. Brass catch with spring was handmade by an exceptional goldsmith/metal worker.
