‘Salome’ open toed embroidered platform boots, a mutual collaboration between embroidery designer, Alice Archer, and myself.
Part of Alice’s final Textile Design MA collection for the Royal College of Art. Decorated with a unique embroidery technique developed by Alice that involves densely embroidering onto lace and then printing imagery on the surface. The embroidery for the boot was taken from Victor Müller’s 1870 painting Salome with the Head of John the Baptist. Alice embroidered onto beautiful Sophie Hallette French lace and then printed on the surface a cropped version of the painting, focussing on Salome’s peachy cheek.
